FTIR and NIR applications for soil analysis
Mešková, Michala ; Kučerík, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on the use of infrared spectrometry methods for the analysis of soil samples. The aim of this work was to compare and analyze the soil using the ATR (Attenuated Total Reflectance) and DRIFTS (Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform Spectroscopy) methods and to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods for soil analysis. The results showed that the ATR method is not sufficiently effective and the DRIFT method was used for soil analysis, which proved to be more suitable for the analysis of soil samples.
Biometric Sensor for Hand Vein Recognition
Švestka, Jan ; Drahanský, Martin (referee) ; Goldmann, Tomáš (advisor)
This work describes the area of the biometric sensor for identifying using hand veins. It proposes the construction of a sensor made up of a camera, an infrared LED, an ultrasonic distance meter and an Arduino development device. The sensor cover and removable arm support are modeled and constructed using 3D printing. A software with user-interface is created for a sensor. The work describes the experiments carried out to find the ideal lighting and camera parameters settings. It is possible to take a photo of a hand veins and identify a person stored in a database based on the captured image.
Non-invasive Blood Glucose Measuring
Vítová, Hana ; Chmelař, Milan (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
Goal of my master´s thesis is examination of non-invasive blood glucose measurement methods, and designing of device for non-invasive blood glucose reading. The introductory chapter of thesis contains description of know different methods for blood glucose measurement, mainly Near Infra-Red region (NIR) measurement with spectroscopy methods. This project describes pathology of Diabetes Mellitus, specifies how it is divided, and looks also on human metabolism. The theoretical part contains exploration of blood glucose measurement methods. Thesis continues with system scheme design for non/invasive glucose measurement device, based on present knowledge. Major principle of device is measuring with Infra-Red laser, bifurcate optic fiber and photodiode. Design of printed circuit board is also present. Document contains also designs of software diagrams for calibration and processing program written in C# language. Communication between device and computer is made via USB. Microcontroller with C language program is part of designed device. It is used to send measured values into PC and also receives data from computer. This data determines blood glucose concentration and their thresholds.
Real-Time Vein Viewer
Slezák, Jakub ; Harabiš, Vratislav (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
This work is focused on methods of real-time vein imaging using a camera in the near infrared region. The theoretical section describes the dependence of reflectance and absorbance of blood and tissue on the wavelength and suggests appropriate ways of illumination and viewing the bloodstream. The paper describes methods for real-time venous processing and projection. Based on theoretical knowledge a device sensing and projecting an image of real time examination of the venous system and a user-friendly programme for operating this device were created. The created device has been tested on a number of people to confirm proper operation.
The forensic analysis of soil by FTIR and NIR with multivariate analysis
Nawrath, Pavel ; Kučerík, Jiří (referee) ; Doležalová Weissmannová, Helena (advisor)
This diploma thesis is about forensic multivariate soil analysis in the localities Ostrava and Třinec. A total of 52 samples were taken in the areas near metallurgical companies. These samples were measured for concentrations of chromium, manganese, copper, nickel, lead, mercury and zinc. Mercury concentration was analysed using AMA 254 device. The remaining metals were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (F–AAS). Additionally, IR spectra were acquired by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) using diffusion reflectance technique (DRIFT). In the end the results were used to create correlation models and statistical models of PCA (principal component analysis) methods with CA (correlation analysis).

Pěstování ostropestřce mariánského [Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn.] z hlediska ekonomických aspektů
Buba, Lukáš
The first part of the Master’s thesis describes the history and the present of milk thistle growing in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the paper describes the biological characteristics, the varieties, phytochemistry and the use of this crop. The thesis in detail deals with the cultivation technology requirements. The classification of milk thistle in sowing procedure, tillage, nutrition, treatment during the vegetation period, harvest and post-harvest treatment of this crop are described. The second part of the thesis describes the course of weather and the growing procedure for this crop in the company Netis, a.s. Dry matter, purity, TKW, bulk density, germinability, oiliness and representation of individual components of the silymarin complex were determined in milk thistle achene samples. The experimental data found during the “first” cultivation at Netis, a.s. were evaluated in terms of the economy of cultivation. The economy of cultivation was compared with that of the traditional grower Agrospol, a.d. Knínice. The economy of milk thistle cultivation at Netis, a.s. was compared with that of other crops grown there.
